 2Week Tour Hemendra Singh Shaktawat Berlin, Germany May 17 – 28, 2010
Mr. Hemendra Singh Shaktawat, our VP – Technical Business Development, represented us in Berlin from May 17th – 28th to create long lasting and profitable business relationships with current and prospective clients.
Travel Notes As soon as Hemendra landed in Berlin, he felt that he was walking through history as everything was well preserved. He was awestruck to see that the relics of the tragic past were appreciably camouflaged with the modern and bustling energy of Berlin. Hemendra observed that the resurrection of this city was brought about by skyscrapers, shopping malls, beer cellars, stupendous monuments, gourmet restaurants and the kicking nightlife.
Though the fragments of the infamous Berlin wall could be seen, the city seemed to have bounced back confidently. Getting around was easy as the city boasts of excellent transportation. The streets were spacious and scrupulously clean. An interesting thing that he noticed was that the street corners of Berlin were dotted with kiosks which sold Google maps for the convenience of the visitors.
Hemendra was successful in meeting 18 prospective clients. He observed that though outsourcing was popular, the Germans were still apprehensive about confidentiality and software ownership issues. At the end of the day, he understood that in Berlin, business was all about building trust and long term relationships. He made all possible efforts to make sure that these were taken care of.
Tech Notes Some of the interesting technology and business trends observed during the meetings in Berlin are:
- iPhone development and Open Source technologies most sought after
- Biggest mobile phone and online market in all of Europe
- German clients very particular about laying down all expectations very clearly
- Outsourcing to India and China seen as a rising trend
